Almost two years since the launch of Junkyard Golf Club in its native home of Manchester, and following the rapid expansion of this unique concept into London, the leaders in competitive leisure have announced they have outgrown their current space at Piccadilly Place and have announced a move to First Street, Manchester.
Taking on a prominent site at First Street, Junkyard’s neighbours include HOME, Gasworks Brewbar and the Liquor Store. Junkyard Golf Club will host its final rounds of golf at the current Piccadilly Place venue on 20 August, with the new venue being ready for play on 24 August 2017, when the site will officially launch.
The team behind Junkyard Golf Club have promised to take the concept to the next level, with more courses, bigger and more dramatic immersive environments and a refreshed food and drinks offer. The format remains the same with the craziest of 9 hole golf courses, snack food and much-loved party style cocktails, but fans will now be able to experience bigger, better and wilder junk-filled golf courses and bar environments. More details will be released soon.
Junkyard Golf director, Chris Legh says: “We were looking for a bigger, permanent space, that could fit all our mad ideas and we came across this site and it’s in a perfect location. First Street is an exciting new hub for food and booze and we always tend to find ourselves at the forefront of the most happening new areas.
“Our mission is to keep making crazy golf epic and the new site has so much space to play with – we can fit in three courses, more bar areas and fill the space with bigger and better crazy golf madness. With high ceilings, and loads of space, the venue will feature two mezzanines and plenty of bars, all to ensure a really different kind of night out. Get ready to see golf like you’ve never seen before.”
Commenting on Junkyard Golf’s move to First Street, Mike Tyler, Head of Asset Management at PATRIZIA UK, the investment company behind the regeneration and development of the estate, says: “This is great news for First Street, and we are working closely with Chris and the team to ensure that Junkyard Golf enjoys a smooth and successful move to our community of business, leisure, hospitality and residential offerings.”
Along with the growth of the brand in Manchester, Junkyard Golf Club continues to build its name across the UK, with national expansion already underway. Following on from the success of the brand’s London Truman Brewery space, Junkyard has already secured a site in Oxford which will be opening later in 2017 with further details being announced in due course.
